Visual Arts - Events and Exhibits

Martzen Studio located at 115 S. L St., Dinuba has the Martzen Exhibit featuring original photos from the 40s through the 90s of the Sierra Nevadas, as well as historical prints of the area. Negatives dating from the 30s, portraiture and scenics of Dinuba, Orosi, Orange Cove and Reedley area. Courthouse Gallery of the Arts will present the work of three of their board members: painters Anna Nelson and Marty Weekly, and photographer Debra Cook. The show, “Totally Board” will hang through March. The gallery is located at 125 S. B St., Exeter.

The Creative Center welcomes guest artist Colleen Mitchell Veyna to the Jon Ginsburg Gallery for their upcoming art show called “People and Places Close to My Heart.” The show, which runs through April 16, will feature Veyna’s paintings and artwork by Creative Center artists. The Art Stand Gallery will reopen Feb. 6 and host its annual Blossom Trail show through April 17. The gallery is located in the heart of the Blossom Trail, east of Sanger at Frankwood Ave. and Hwy. 180. Browse through what was once an old fruit stand and see the work of 15 local artists. Fig Tree Gallery will present “Water”, an exhibition of James Entz’s new work. Entz is a Three Rivers artist and Porterville College art instructor. The show will run from March 4 through March 28, at the gallery located at 644 Van Ness, Fresno. Gallery hours are Fri - Sun, noon to 4 p.m. There will be a reception for the artist on March 4 from 5-8 p.m.

The Three Rivers Artists’ Biennial Studio Tour 9 will be held March 19, 20, 21. Visit 21 artists in their art studios. Self-guided tour starts at the Three Rivers Historical Museum. Tickets are $15 per person before March 5, $20 after March 5 and at the door. Call 561-4671 for information.

Art Council of Tulare County will host “Discover Art in the Alley”, an outdoor arts market, the third Thursday in April, May and June, from 5-8 p.m. in downtown Visalia’s Garden Street Plaza and alleyway connected to the Visalia Farmers Market. The event features local artists, live music, and children’s activities. Interested artists may call 625-1520.

Kings Players presents “You Can’t Take It With You”. The play runs weekends starting Feb. 26 to Mar. 21. The first weekend does not have a Sunday show. Prices, regular $10, seniors, students and military $8. Temple Theater, 514 Visalia St., Hanford. Reservations recommended, call 584-7241.
