Tim Burton does it again with 'Alice in Wonderland’
By Thomas Loliva
Tim
Burton has yet again given audience a peek into his unique, fascinating
world with his latest film 'Alice in Wonderland.' Burton's directing was
accompanied by brilliant performances by an amazing all-star cast headed
by Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.
Depp's performance was brilliant beyond imagination. Throughout the film Depp is at his usual antics of being the crazy, yet quite comical character that will have his fans relieved and enjoyed to see him in a role they are used to seeing him in.
One
of his best scenes is where audiences will see a more gentle side to his
character. Audiences will be used to seeing Depp parade around on the screen
in a maniacal way. In this scene however, they will see a more innocent
side like a child almost to his character that will have them truly appreciate
his skills as an actor.
The film's story is dated 10 years after the events that take place in the book. Alice (Mia Wasikowska) is now of age and is faced with a lot of situations in the real world. After chasing the White Rabbit (Michael Sheen) and falling down that well-known hole in the tree, she enters into the ever so breath taking Wonderland. There is one small catch though; Wonderland is now under the control of the temperamental Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), who is now wreaking havoc amongst its subjects who defy her. It is now up to Alice with the help of the Mad Hatter (Depp), the White Queen (Anne Hathaway), and the Chesire Cat (Stephen Fry) to defeat the Red Queen and bring peace and order back to Wonderland.
Overall the film is quite enjoyable that will leave audiences in awe and wonder of the brilliant world that Burton has shown them.
