The Primarys

Just when one long-time Holiday Season nightmare marathon seems to have ended it now looks like I'm going to be plagued with more scary sleep disorders.

Yep pholks, I thought that the Salad Shooter, Chia Pet and The Clapper television terrorism had practically run its course with few, if any of those bothersome commercials being aired this past Holiday Season. I had a much better sleeping experience this time and the future looked promising for the next few seasons.

Wrong.

Wrong.

Wrong.

With his signature our Governor has added California to the list of states having Presidential Primary Elections in February instead of June. Guess what we will be bombarded with next Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years? Political ads up to here and there isn't a fun thought.

Now pholks, do any of you realize what we're in for? With so many presidential candidates tossing their hats, purses and other assorted possessions into the proverbial ring it's going to be a campaign season like never before. The vast majority of us pholks who have been troubled with the loss of the real “meaning of the season” now have another major hurdle.

I really hate to say this, but there is a possibility that I could end up looking forward to a Salad Shooter commercial just for a respite. I really hope it never comes to that, but strange things have been happening everywhere.

Picture Hillary wearing a Santa cap pleading for your vote or Mayor Rudy telling us he will stuff our stockings with more jobs, lower taxes and a way out of Iraq.

Barack Obama promising health care reform, education system reconstruction and changes in government spending or Mitt Romney pledging that his election it just what this nation needs. And just imagine how these commercials will be produced. Candidates in front of fireplaces with families and friends, at shopping malls, in Christmas tree lots, in front of the churches of their choice are just a couple of pictures already in my mind.

And just consider how New Years will fit into this whole mess. Can you imagine what kind of promises using “It's Time For A Change” theme will be aired?

If the holidays aren't bad enough just consider that the Super Bowl will be held about the same time as the primary.

Pholks, just think what we're in for. Seeing Hillary, Mitt or Barack in football helmets, shoulder pads or tossing a pigskin aren't things I look forward to. Nightmares are already forming.

Sen. McCain hiking a football or trying to run around a defensive line just isn't a picture I want to have flashing before my eyes. Just knowing that such images really could become reality is scary.

Domestic terrorism will have a whole new meaning, in my opinion. Elections are important in a democracy which is, of course, based on the freedom of choice.

But, I guess I don't have too many choices on what I will be bombarded with next Holiday Season.

Maybe I'll have to finally buy one of those darned Clappers for the TV set. What a nightmare.
