Halloween

I've decided not to do Halloween this year.

Maybe never again will I participate. Yep pholks, chalk up another tradition going down the tubes.
This politically correct (PC) stuff is a bunch of hooey. Granted, lots of pholks go over the line of good taste on Halloween. Adults tend to do that once in a while.

But in recent years, being PC has grown into a major issue.

This Halloween is a prime example of how a novel idea has turned into a major social and political issue.
In case you haven't heard, the “Illegal Alien” Halloween costume has raised eyebrows, raised fists, raised voices and raised social debate. According to the costume designers, this alien “didn't just cross a border, he crossed a galaxy. He's got a green card, but it's from another planet. Sure to get some laughs, the Illegal Alien Adult Costume includes an orange prison-style jumpsuit with 'illegal alien' printed on the front, an alien mask and a 'green card.'”
Almost immediately, the Coalition for Humane Immigration Rights of Los Angeles fired off complaints to stores selling the costume, with the organization's leader using terms like “distasteful, mean-spirited, and ignorant of social stigma and current debate on immigration reform.”

Some stores have complied, but sales have skyrocketed due to the uproar. That pholks, is how things work.
I admit it is a sensitive topic but what about all those other political-connected customs we've seen over the years like Richard Nixon, Clinton, LBJ, Michael Jackson, Elvis, Hillary Clinton and Janet Reno masks?

Pregnant Nun outfits still are very popular and continue to produce smiles but haven't gained much political correctness.

I'm sure Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Bugs Bunny and Popeye the Sailor fans have been upset over the years but have dealt with it.

And are any of us naive enough not to expect lots of Obamas at our door or parties this year?

Don't be surprised to see several Michael Jackson ghosts and related characters trying to spook us or at least asking for treats. Entertainers of all sorts will be trying to outdo one another at doors around the neighborhood. Lots will not be PC, pholks, that's for sure.

In recent years, I've had a lot of fun with my one-quarter sister Isabella the Gypsy coming to visit. No telling where the dear gal is this year. I haven't heard a word from her. She may have found a new Sugar Daddy or maybe she got hitched, which would surprise me considering her free spirit, but heaven only knows.

Isabella probably is PC and not exactly distasteful. Granted Isabella isn't what most would call beautiful but she has some appealing qualities. Two or three guys I know continue to ask when she might return. I don't have an answer.
Come to think of it, Isabella just might have come upon one of those real “far out illegal aliens” and run off with “it.”
Meanwhile, I plan on staying at home this Halloween, handing out some candy and watching football. That is certainly PC, if I really cared about being that way. Which, of course, I don't.
